Catching Fire Cupcakes

Cupcakes on Fire:

Fiery cupcakes for the one and only girl on fire

Materials:

  • Cupcakes

For frosting:

  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • yellow and orange food coloring

For drizzle:

  • ¼ cup chocolate sauce
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper

Procedure:

1. Let's begin with the frosting. pour the measured heavy cream into mixing bowl and beat it at a medium speed. (Warning: I tried this with a hand-held whisk and the only thing I has was a sore wrist!) Beat the cream until it form small peaks. As you are beating the cream slowly pour in the brown sugar and the cayenne pepper a little bit at a time.

2. After the sugar is sufficiently mixed in, add a few drops of both red and yellow food coloring (gel colors work fine as well) until the frosting turns into an orange color that you like.

3. Once this is done, set it aside and pour some chocolate sauce into a small bowl. (I used chocolate syrup here and it worked just fine.) Sprinkle the cayenne pepper on top and mix it until well blended.

4. Using the Wilton tip #1M, pipe a neat spiral of the orange frosting onto the cupcake.

5. Finally, pour the chocolate/cayenne pepper mixture into another piping bag, using Wilton tip #3 and drizzle it on top of the cupcake. And voilà, you have a flaming hot cupcake ready to serve.
